Standard Assemblies for Rollers
Steel tube | As a tube material, steel has the greatest rigidity and resistance to deflection. If the tube has to be protected against corrosion, zinc plated steel tube - or even better, stainless steel tube - should be used. Sprockets and flanges can be welded onto the tube. There are also other types available: tubes with round belt grooves, tubes with an elastic PVC sleeve, rubberised tubes, surface-hardened tubes, etc.
Aluminium tube | Compared with steel tube, aluminium tube is not quite as strong and has only about one third of the flexural strength. An aluminium tube, however, weighs only 36 per cent of a comparable steel tube. Moreover, it is not susceptible to corrosion.
PVC-Copolymer tube |
Assuming a comparable diameter, the load capacity of a steel tube is much higher than that of a PVC-Copolymer tube. On the other hand, PVC-Copolymer tubes offer a series of substantial advantages: • sound insulation • high impact resistance • light weight • corrosion proof • easy to clean |
